Cost Estimating
Matocha Associates uses an internally developed computer-based cost estimating process. The process is different from other cost estimating systems in two important ways. First, it uses actual project cost data taken from current construction projects and standard industry cost reference information. The cost figures are broken down into 16 trade divisions using the format recommended by the Construction Specifications Institute. The estimated cost figures are then evaluated for accuracy and realism using our knowledge of the unique attributes of a particular project as well as our general knowledge of design, engineering and construction. The result is a project cost estimate that can be relied upon during the budgeting process. Due to the automated nature of our cost estimating program, it can be closely aligned with the value engineering process. This feature is especially valuable because it allows for unlimited "what if" analysis during the value engineering process. The automated feature of the cost estimating program also enables the project team to quickly develop revised cost estimates as changes are made during the planning and design stages. As a normal part of our construction document production process, cost estimates are refined again when documents are 50% complete and again when 100% complete. |
